Woodworks

In 2014 I completed a year-long Furniture design and construction course out of North Island College. This sparked a lifelong journey and passion for woodworking which has driven my career. Through my apprenticeship I learned to care for and work with tools; I honed my attention to detail, and learned to listen to how the materials want to be worked. Feeding my desire for complexity, I savoured the opportunity to program, fix and operate large scale CNC machines, falling in love with the rapidity with which ideas can take form with the right tools for the job.

My apprenticeship eventually led me to managing a large wood shop for several years, after which I returned to school and finished my Red Seal Journeyman ticket in Cabinetry. Since then I have put my skills to work designing and building structures and art installations for music festivals, constructing sets for television, film and theatre, and most recently, doing sculptural carving, and mechanical breakdown for film.

Below is a selection of some of the wood work I have done.

All work presented done entirely by me, except where other contributions are noted.
